Students Participate in Superintendent's Student Advisory Council

Superintendent's Student Advisory CouncilFeb. 15, 2012 ~ Representatives from each of the district's four high schools take part in the Superintendent's Student Advisory Council, an opportunity for students to provide feedback and learn more about the district from Superintendent Marlin Berry. The council meets four times a year and provides an opportunity for an open dialogue between the students and superintendent. In addition to being able to ask questions, students also speak and provide their input on a variety of topics related to education today. Recent topics have included social media, 21st Century High School Programs, bullying, and teenage stress. The feedback is gathered and district staff use the information to help make important district decisions.

Five student representatives are chosen from each high school. Students are chosen by their school administration and serve for the entire school year.

"It's very beneficial for me to be able to meet with our students," said Superintendent Marlin Berry. "They provide us valuable feedback and give us an insight into some of the issues important to the students in the Olathe Public Schools. I look forward to each meeting and am appreciative of the open dialogue."
