Special Programs:

A variety of special programs featuring Olathe Public Schools activities, issues and current events including:

  • Representatives from Youth Congress create a public service announcement about the hazards of texting while driving.
  • Join science students at Prairie Trail Middle School as they learn from Dr. Steve Hawley what it's like to be a space shuttle astronaut.
  • Learn how student leaders make a difference through the 2010 Youth Congress general assembly.
  • Meet the Olathe Board of Education members by viewing their personal video interviews.
  • Olathe's commencement exercises were held May 16, 2010. You can view the ceremonies at each of our high schools: Olathe East , Olathe North , Olathe Northwest , Olathe South
  • California Trail Junior High School held a recognition ceremony Aug. 31, 2009, to honor National Spelling Bee champion Kavya Shivashankar.
  • Convocation 2009 is our annual kick-off to the new school year. This year's theme was Keepers of the Dreams.
  • Convocation 2008 is our annual kick-off to the new school year. Guest speakers, student musicians and singers, as well as staff musical performances highlighted this year's event.
  • Convocation 2007 is a two-hour kick-off to the new school year. Guest speakers include the superintendent, Board of Education president, area mayors and Kansas Teacher of the Year. Student performances and "Are You Smarter Than a Channel 9 Weatherman" are also featured.
  • Bond Task Force Presentation is a 40-minute video filled with information and findings from the Bond Task Force, and shared by Associate Superintendent Alison Banikowski.
  • Convocation 2006 ~ Part 1 ~ Part 2
  • First Year is a real-life documentary that follows the ups and downs of new teacher Jennifer McNickle through her first year of teaching at Arbor Creek Elementary School. This 68-minute program offers insight into a variety of factors that affect the professional and personal life of a person breaking into the field of education.
